But why does it take this forum so long to load pages? I can view three or four pages at other sites before one loads here....

I do have to admit to having given up at times it took so long.

I am running a T-1 line so bandwidth is not an issue.

Yes, good things are worth waiting for so it's not really much of an issue but...

Yeah we are working on it.

We are kind of outgrowing our skin here. The problem is these cascading threads. Our OLD software used cascading discussion threads, and the consensus was that we wanted to preserve that look and feel as we migrated to this version of the software.

That worked fine for a couple hundred users, but now with 1300+ it is causing us pain. The problem is not the bandwidth, it is the database. Every time a page loads literally hundreds of calls get made to the database server. Now multiply that by 50 or so concurrent users.

We are talking to a couple companies now about upgrading to a better, more industrial package, but the core issue is can they migrate our database of users, and our archived messages. That will be a must for any new software we acquire.

Brock,
What packages have you looked at for industrial strength? Just curious about who makes the big stuff.

Rob, if you aren't using the "active topics" link, give it a try. It should be less intensive on the database and speed things up a lot as it doesn't show the cascading threads. I've never had a problem with the speed but I can sure see a difference using active topics as compared to the cascading forum.

Thanks Don, i'll try that.

No problem Brock... Sometimes these things go on and no one says a word and nothing changes.

Good luck!
